Toronto-area developers are aiming to raise $1 million to support those on the ground in Israel.

Jordan Taperman has launched the City Builder’s Emergency Appeal to Support Israel with the backing of more than 50 real estate and construction professionals.

“As a developer, we’re all fighting about land and sites all day. That’s what happens here. But it’s not personal, and it has nothing to do with anyone’s race, ethnicity, or beliefs.

“We truly believe in equality and the right to coexist with others who are of different faiths and backgrounds,” Taperman explained to Storeys, a real estate news website, on Oct. 13.

The funds will be used to buy supplies for Israeli soldiers, emergency first responders and civilians fleeing the war in Eliat and Sderot, two cities targeted in Hamas’ attack on Oct. 7.

UJA Federation of Greater Toronto will distribute the money raised. The group is also accepting online donations.
